We have had this tv about a week & we ordered from Amazon. We tried Best Buy first, but they had run out of this model over the Christmas holiday. We went from a 36" to this 52" tv. We thought of buying a 48", and thought 52" would be too big, but we are so happy with this tv so far. The picture is almost lifelike. And one of the best quality LCD tv's, before looking at the expensive LED models. Our tv is on a stand, & we like this look better than having it mounted.

After doing a lot of research I decided the Samsung LN52B550 was the best value for my money, but all of the local Fry's and Best Buys were out of stock. I finally found one at Sears and they matched Fry's price plus 10% of the difference. So I was happy with the price paid ($1101 plus tax and $10 electronic waste fee) I was pleasantly surprised that it only took about 10 minutes to get it out of the box and working with our Comcast cable + DVR box. I used the $3 HDMI cable found here on Amazon plus an APC 450 watt UPS to make sure undervoltage does not damage the new LCD. The whole solution is working flawlessly! I can't really see the red touch of color, it is very faint, but I do like the style of the TV with it's smoke edging. Also, one of my main reasons for purchasing this particular model is that it has a semi-matte LCD coating. Our old 50" Sony standard TV had terrible glare from the 3 big windows directly facing the TV. Our new Samsung has zero glare, except when the tv is dark (like dark scenes or when it's turned off) That's a huge deal for me as I hate living in the dark and my husband is a tv addict and was always closing the blinds. We haven't done any tuning yet, but the high definition channels are amazing! At least with default settings, the standard def channels look terrible and are restricted to a smaller portion of the screen in 16x9 mode which is the only tolerable setting. I probably won't bother trying to fix it since all channels we watch are available in HD.

I had been looking at this brand all year, but in the 46 inch size. But when the prices kept coming down
decided to get the 52 and was not disappointed. I don't think it is worth the cost to upgrade at this time. Drop shipped right to my door. They would have unpacked the set for me but I declined as it was pretty cold that day and they would not wait until it warmed to plug in and test. It didn't matter anyway as setup was easy and no issues with operation as of yet.

Ive been researching a new TV for the family room for months now, monitoring prices and going to every store to view side by side comparisons. I chose this TV and couldnt be more happier. We've been using it for 6 months now and I see a noticeable improvement in picture and sound quality over my older samsung.
I have this TV, a Samsung 1080p 40 inch, and a Samsung 720p 32".
I was initialy worried about not having 120 hz, because that seems to be the new rave, but watching this TV side by side with the 120 hz in stores I didnt see a difference.
I have this TV hooked up to a 5.1 surround sound, but for normal TV watching I use the built in speakers (*GASP*) and suprisingly they are pretty good. Some flatscreens speakers tend to "fart" at higher volumes, but this one stays crisp in my normal range of 25-35. We have a very large family room, and the sound fills the room. When im watching TV late at night, I dont feel the need to have my surround sound on and wake the neighbors so Its nice to have decent speakers built in the TV.
However, if you are watching movies with deep bass, then you need surround sound, just like you would with any flat screen TV but the built in speakers are more than adequate for the news, sportscenter, or your regular shows on ABC, NBC or HGTV.
My father is a videophile and came to visit and commented on how sharp my picture was and was wondering what the specs were. I showed him what they were and the price of the TV and he was shocked that the picture was as good as his $3,000 1080p 120hz Sony.
Funny how so far the only negative comment out of the 30+ reviews was dealing with shipping. This was the first TV I bought online, and I was REALLY worried about shipping. Does UPS just leave this on the doorstep? How does it even fit on the doorstep? I found out that amazon ships this to a local shipping company in my area, and the shipping company called me and set up a delivery date to ensure that I was home. They helped me carry the TV inside the house, I set it up, made sure it was working, and signed for it. It was very convenient and hassle free.
From now on, Im shopping for TV's in best buy, and then buying them online when they are cheaper!

I decided to step up to a larger TV and bought a 52 inch Samsung. I had a 40 inch before, but it didn't seem big enough. This TV is BIG. I did a lot of research and what helped push me to Samsung was the Touch of Color. It is not an intrusive bright red, but just a "touch". Regardless the tv works lovely. The menu is easy to navigate also. No problems with the remote either. There are other decent televisions of this size, but this had the best sale at the time also. Shipping was easy and they set it up for me also. Packaged well, and if there was damage, you have 30 days to return. I have to applaud Amazon for refunding me an additional $200 after the tv was delivered, since the price dropped on Amazon on the day of delivery by $200.
