 "Disappointed" 2009-12-23
By E. Hemingway (San Francisco, CA)
I got this TV less than 6 months ago. Luckily for me I was still under warranty. One year with Samsung and an additional year with Costco. One minute I had picture and sound, the next only sound. The Samsung technician agreed immediately it was an issue and told me I had to ship to their repair center in New Jersey. I still had the box so shipping was not a big deal. If I had not kept the box, it would have been very inconvenient.

I don't know if this is true but I read that the Samsung LCD HDTV has a well know problem of faulty video board which causes the picture to go out. I was planning on purchasing another Samsung TV but I'll probably go with a Sony instead.

"Gets the right stuff correct, especially the picture." 2009-12-23
By Alphabet Man (Rehoboth Beach, DE, US)
When it came time to replace the finally failing 27 yr old Sony in the bedroom,I looked of course back at Sony and others. After much research, I settled on Samsung,Panasonic, and Sony 32" sets. Each time I viewed the sets, the Panasonic and Samsung were the two favs. Side by side, the Samsung blew the Panasonic off the shelf with better blacks( though I'm sure the Panny plasmas would have been better) and color accruracy.Other purchase pushers were the better jack pack on the Samsung, more attractive design(love the clear/red lower panel) and it swivels on the stand. The set up was super easy and the reward has been hours of great picture.

I've used this set for about 3 weeks now and done some really critical viewing with SD/HD cable as well as DVD playback. I have been very impressed with the picture quailty of the higher def sources and especially the 720 and 1080 pictures.Yeah I know it's not really 1080 but watching NBC or CBS shows over the ABC(720) is an impressive difference. The picture simply pops with detail and color that is astounding. The DVD playback has also been a revelation and the blacks are I think rivaling the 36" XBR Sony in the home theater. The depth of field is no doubt better. The STD def TV is fine and simply reminds one how much the source does matter. That would be why I just purchased a DVR to finally retire the VCR and then I can use the HDMI connections. The most obvious weakness of this set(along with most flat screens) has to be the weak sound quailty which I knew about and was OK for the bedroom( also connected it to a stereo for movies).

What I would change are a few ergonomic issues. The remote feels great but is neither backlit or programmable ,real pain in a darkened bedroom.Going to another source cannot be directly accessed with one button but only thru a menu. The same is true for the sleep timer, a multibutton trek thru a menu, again not dark bedroom friendly.Oddly, while I love the turn on/off tone(reminds me of my Apple booting up), I wish I could lower it's volume so the set coming on doesn't disturb the sleeping partner.

Overall, I am very very happy with this first non Sony TV in the house and will look forward to another Samsung if this gives equally great service.

"Excellent as both HDTV and Computer monitor" 2009-12-01
By X. Li
I bought a Samsung 46" LCD TV last year and loved the picture quality, so this year when I looked to purchase a computer monitor I decided to check out Samsung again. Finally I settled for this unit (Samsung LN32B540 32" 720p HDTV) at COSTCO for below $400 this past Thanksgiving weekend after I spent some time comparing its picture quality and price to similar products at both local COSTCO and Sam's Club as well as in Amazon.com.

Now I use this unit as both HDTV and my laptop's extra monitor. The setup is really easy, and the auto time setting was indeed wrong as others stated here (it's an hour faster), but the problem is easily fixed by using "manual" time setting. I didn't notice this issue until I read about it here...

After trying a few different video modes within Windows Control Panel, Display Settings, I was able to manually set the optimal resolution at 1360x768, and the text clarity, color, and size are just perfect. The 32" size is big enough for me as both a HDTV and computer monitor in my home office. With one click on the remote I can switch the "Source" between "TV" and "PC"; I can move windows freely between my laptop screen and this unit with a mouse, which really helps my productivity when I work with multiple EXCEL files and web pages.

Picture quality is not the best, but decent, when watching web TVs/videos, Netflix online movies, or DVDs using my laptop (my laptop has only a regular VGA video output). But for less than $400 I couldn't ask for more.

This unit fits my home office needs almost perfectly at a very reasonable price. I couldn't be happier for this purchase and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a two-in-one LCD TV and computer monitor combo!

 "Good product, good value" 2009-11-29
By Joshmo
Since I don't do a lot of TV watching (except football), I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a TV, and since I do most of my TV watching in a small room, 32" was plenty big for me. I have had great luck with my other Samsung HDTV, so I had no qualms about buying another one.

I just got this, so I can't comment on the longevity of the unit, but the picture quality is excellent. It only took a few seconds to set up, since all I needed to do was plug in the HDMI cable, put the batteries in the remote, and turn it on. No adjustments were needed. When I take the time to see what adjustments I can make, I will likely be even more pleased. The sound is good, but not great. However, when I hook it up to my stereo, it sounds awesome.

"Great TV with for a Great price" 2009-11-10
By Cheryl L. June (Oregon)
I've had this TV for about 3-4 months and have been nothing but happy with it. This was my first HD TV and was happy with what I saw, it's great for watching movies and also a good TV to play video games on. The knock I have on this TV is the stock speakers it comes with, there just not that great, but there not horrorifyingly bad etheir. I just hooked up some PC speakers to them and sounds great, I used the headphone jack on the back of it. I read that other guys review and I don't understand how you can ignore a great picture and price over something as little as a time zone issue, which has not happend to me. But whatever some people get more fused over differnet things then others I guess.

Over all I'd highly recommend this TV to anyone that's on a budget but'd still like a great looking TV.

 "Excellent quality" 2009-12-05
By Barbara Posey
I'd buy one of these again, and would recommend it to a friend. It's about as simple to install as it could possibly be. Very solid quality of all the parts, including the screws and bolts. Very good instructions, and everything needed was included. It was as straight-forward and easy to install as mounting a TV on your wall could possibly be. The two vertical arms bolt onto the back of the TV. Evidently there is a standard for placing bolt holes on the back of flat panel TVs so one can attach a mount. Bolts of every common size are included. Then you screw the mounting bracket onto the wall, making sure that the screws go into studs. You should have a stud-finder for this; they are inexpensive. Good sized, quality, hex-head lag screws are included for the wall mounting, as well as concrete anchors, in case you have a concrete wall. After the arms are on the TV and the bracket is on the wall, you lift up the TV and hook it on, like hanging a picture on the wall. Once the TV is hanging, you tighten the two lock screws so it can't be lifted off again unless you loosen them. There were no frustrations, no "gotcha's", no cursing the company that made it. One nice surprise was that there is a built-in bubble level on the mounting bracket. That's a thoughtful extra that shows the manufacturer has a "what else can we do to make this better" attitude.

"Great for PC, TV, PS3, BluRay even upconverted DVD!" 2009-12-04
By J. Andren (Edmond, OK)
I've had this monitor for about two weeks now and I must say... Worth EVERY penny! I have it hooked up to a HD antenna and the tuner provides a crystal clear picture. PS3 gaming is beautiful! I've watched a few Blu-Ray movies on it and the picture is every bit as good as my Samsung 47" TOC. I am using this in my home office (getaway cave), it's about 15x20 feet. I can watch tv or movies from across the room with no problem. As a PC monitor this thing is amazing, Playing COD4, Crysis, L4D2, MW2... Brilliant!

The only con... the speakers, and really not even a con. they are TV speakers, not going to give you that full rich sound of a home theater system. No way I would knock this down even a star for that. The speakers do exactly what TV speakers are supposed to do. I want to get a Sony sound bar system to enhance the whole experience... Christmas is coming! :)

I not only recommend this to my friends... I rub thier noses in it that I have one!

"Great Monitor for the Price" 2009-11-27
By Michael N. Caron (Berlin ct)
I bought this monitor because I wanted a huge monitor for gaming, it had the perk of also being a TV.

Once I got the monitor it is very nice in design and is HUGE. I specifically got it for gaming. I was a little worried about it but the worries were unfounded. Games are spectacular and beautiful. The 1920x1200 resolution is perfect. I wanted a minimum of 1600x1200 and this monitor delivers. No dead pixels, No streaking (Common for some LCD Monitors).

The price is unbeatable and Samsung has a great reputation for making very good monitors.

PROS: Nice picture, Great resolution with a very nice 10,000-1 contrast ration. Text is crisp and pictures are beautiful. It physically looks really nice too.

CONS: I don't love that it only will do 60Hz but I can live with it for the price. Also the base is a little cheezy but not too bad. It's not like I'm going to be jostling it around much. Power buttons are on the side of the unit but with the remote control that is a non issue.

Overall you cannot beat this monitor for gaming for the price. You won't be disappointed.

"Nice TV Disguised As A Monitor" 2009-11-26
By S. Chow (OH)
I was in the market for a 26"-32" TV for my bedroom and randomly stumbled upon the T260HD. For the price, this cannot be beat as a full HD TV for $300!!! Picture quality is excellent as you can expect with a Samsung. I absolutely love the 'Touch of Color' and the whole bezel; I personally think it looks pretty classy, though it is a fingerprint magnet. The included stand is excellent as it spins and tilts. The menus are easy to navigate and the remote is nice and simple. I don't intend to use this unit as a full time monitor, but I have no doubts it will perform well as the screen looks great when my netbook is plugged in. I noticed many people have complained about the speakers...and they are poor, but when considering what they are, they're pretty decent. Sounds are clear and not distorted and there's even an equalizer. The only downer I have had so far is the power cord. It takes a little oomph to get it in tightly...I was afraid of damaging the unit by pressing so hard. I actually thought I had a dead unit at first when I got it, but wound up realizing the power chord needed an extra push.

"Great TV, but comes with little glitches" 2009-12-03
By Simranjit Dhaliwal (Rochester, MN USA)
This is a great TV, and the price is perfect. I bought mine for about $249 in August; so far the experience has been a good one. TV looks great, picture & sound qualities are impressive as well. Only thing that I don't like about this TV monitor is that it is literally impossible to connect a regular DVD player or laptop to it. I tried connecting a Sony DVD player and was unsuccessful; then I tried connecting the DVD player via using the component video cable, but no dice.

So, if you are looking for a good TV with a great price this TV is for you. I've heard that blue-ray DVD players work just fine w/ this TV. Overall, great TV.

I really love what i got for the amount spent!

Its great for my bedroom. I use it as a tv as well as a monitor for my Dell XPS 430. I have a built in turner in my pc and the T220HD picks up more channels than my pc turner.

The picutre is clear and beats our 52 Sony Plasma TV.

There could be a few more connections!!!!

Wall mount is offered but could be better see samsung direct website.

The button for power on the TV/Monitor isnt the best.

Wish it came in more colors than rose/black.

But again this is a kick butt purchase.

Patt your self on the back after you buy.

 "Fantastic Monitor" 2009-09-28

I did a HUGE amount of research to find the best 22" computer monitor under $300. The sound is not great (no bad either), but I did not buy it to be a HDTV. It works perfectly. The remote is intuitive, the buttons on the side allow you to switch between monitor and TV very easily. It comes with both VGA and DVI (male-male) cables and it overall a fantastic product. This is the best 22" monitor for under $300 and it just to happens to be a television too.

By Joshua Hennessey (SLC, Utah)
I ordered this monitor as a 2nd screen for my bedroom, I hooked up my 2nd Blu-ray player & 2nd PS3 to it. It looks great, and is very sleek looking. It is a "computer monitor" so it doesn't have the ability to wall mount so it just sits on my dresser. The plastic stand worried me in the beginning but after a couple of late nights "bumps" into the dresser the stand held firm. It is a great purchase for the price. It has the connection form the coaxial cable and a built in digital tuner....I have not used them since the main purpose was just for the Blu-ray & PS3 not cable. My friend saw it and immediately bought one for herself & her daughters rooms.

With in 3 months of use, green vertical line appeared on the monitor. I called samsung and they asked me to send it to repair (it was third party repair center). Even after one month I have not received my monitor back. I called samsung several times but they do not have any idea what is going on at service center.

I thought Samsung makes great products. If the products are not great, you should at least have great service.

I better stick with Sony which makes good products even though it has crappy service.

I would recommend both this product and this seller for any future considerations or purchases. The monitor was easy to hook up, the display is fantastic, it looks great in my office and has been one of the better investments I've made in terms of a monitor. The fact it also be used with the Digital TV or hooked to DVD, Blu-ray is like a bonus item for free. I had read several reviews before buying this monitor, all had very good things to say about it and I would agree in every area. As I also mentioned the seller of this item was great as well. The shipping was extremely fast and everything arrived in perfect condition.

 "Good for the price" 2009-11-13
By Robert P. Sterner
This is a pretty good TV/Monitor. It works well for the way we are using it, but it has some limitations. There is only one set of composite inputs, and no regular RCA. This makes it less useful to people who haven't upgraded more to HDMI. It only has two of those inputs, which is another limitation. The placement of the speakers is a little odd too. The sound seems to go straight down, not really giving a stereo feel.

On the positive side the screen is crisp and looks great. The angle viewing seems to be fine for how we are using it. The swivel works fine and lets us get a good range of movement out of it. All in all it works as a pretty good TV. I can see how this would also be a great monitor, and I'll probably use it as such in the future. We got a great deal on it, which makes this definitely worth the purchase.
