I did a lot of checking and comparing before ordering this unit. I was using a Samsung 32 inch LCD from five years ago which cost $2800(!) and thought it was time to upgrade finally. I couldn't be happier 10 days after the B650's arrival. I needed to delay shipment after placing my order so I could alter the cabinet where it sits. Amazon delivery was within one hour of the promised time two weeks later. And that is ON TIME in New York City on a rainy day during the Christmas season. Perfect. I set it up on the stand easily, plugged in the HDMI cable from my set top HD cable box, plugged in the power cord, plugged in the component video and audio in cables from my old DVD player, turned it on, picked the Source on the remote- and IT WORKS. I haven't cracked open the manual or done anything with any set up controls- why bother when the picture and sound are so astoundingly good. I am sure that I can do some neat things with the set up alternatives, but it doesn't seem necessary to me. My wife and I can barely believe we are watching broad cast HDTV. The movies look like live performances and are crystal clear with perfect color.
I recently hooked up a new Blu-Ray DVD through the unit with an HDMI cable and that is fantastic also. I set the Blu-ray up for 1080p and it is stunning.
I am happy with what I paid for the unit, for the ease of set up, for the picture quality and sound- so what else matters? Thank you Samsung.

Just as many of you have spent plenty of time researching your purchase I did too, almost two full months. I'm sure if your anything like me you've already read the reviews so I won't bore you with stuff you already know. Secondly, I'm very particular about my electronics. I pick them apart early and learn everything about them. After two solid weeks of deliberation, back and forth, testing, tweaking, and retesting I am happy to say I've decided to keep it and here's why in all its detail, both my likes and dislikes.
Best reasons to buy this TV:
1) First and foremost this TV has AMAZING picture quality when set correctly.
2) Superb contrast! Deeply detailed blacks (Caveat) and clear bright whites = AMAZING PQ!
3) 120hz processing! I know some have said it's a gimmick, but I guarantee you I won't ever buy another TV without it. What you will find is that some programming is better seen with it on while some are better seen without it and still others will be better half half, but that will be up to you to decide. 120hz processing has a 3D effect that it is awe inspiring when seen with select HD programming. When you have it on I can't think of any other way to describe it other than what others have called "hyper real." It's a must have in my book.
4) Clean & crisp as a computer monitor but ONLY through HDMI @ 1080P
5) Very sleek design. The red is not very noticeable and even when it is it still looks great.
6) You can upgrade your firmware via USB drive and Samsung just released a new one NOV.
Other pluses:
1) The remote design is pretty good. It is sleek black, easy in the hand, and is backlit.
2) Glass stand swivel is something I didn't think I needed but has come in handy.
3) Plenty of picture adjustments and each source remembers its own separate settings.
4) Quiet, there is zero buzz noise like my outgoing LCD.
Reasons not to buy this TV:
1) Huge smearing Problem. Took me two full weeks to realize I wasn't the only one. It really only makes itself shown under certain circumstances but can be reduced by adjusting some picture settings. I recorded an example of it and uploaded it to Youtube but they won't let me link it. You can search for LN40B650 trailing smearing blurring you should see videos by "k1ng617"
I was going to return it just because of this, but after working around it I am willing to give a little bit, because it only happens during fast, dark scenes with certain colors and when it does happen it's not TOO bothersome. I'm a gamer and 75% of the reason I bought this was to game better and I'm somewhat satisfied.
2) Slow on screen menu. Its painful sometimes how unresponsive it can be.
3) This is my caveat for the good black levels. After researching online via forums galore I came across something interesting that some people call a "Panel lottery." Apparently, Samsung out sources some of the work to other panel manufacturers and some have "bluish blacks." If mine had this I would return it immediately. I think if you are interested in buying one I recommend doing some research on this.
Other small dislikes:
1) I have tried contacting Samsung via email and their responses were not helpful and slow to get back. I have not tried to call them.
2) The shiny bezel is a dust magnet. I constantly clean it because it looks so much dustier than everything surrounding it.
3) VGA is not an option as a PC connection. Absolutely, invest in a DVI to HDMI cable/dongle.
4) Buttons on the TV itself are touch sensitive and are hard to see and press.
Other thoughts:
1) With all these different adjustments take your time to find your perfect settings and write them down somewhere.
2) I registered mine online with Samsung and they extended my warranty by 3 months
3) The screen is slightly glossy and WILL reflect direct light. But, it helps with the black levels.
P.S. I will post this on a few other places so don't be shocked if you see it elsewhere.
Hope this helps!

This TV has a great picture quality that is crisp and clear. From my research, it seemed that a complaint about this TV was that the glossy screen is prone to glare. I find this not to be the case. I have had literally no glare on my TV, unless I sit at a very awkward angle. The 120hz does take a little getting used to. I'd say that most tv shows now look more life-like, more like a home video taken with a consumer camcorder. But for sports, it's definitely better to see all the action cleanly as it happens, and not as a blur. As many others have mentioned, the speakers are in the rear of the TV, so the sound is a bit hard to hear and not the best. But the sound is decent enough that I am fine without a home-theater system.
The only complaint to make about this TV is the internet widgets. They are WAY TOO SLOW! If you have many widgets installed and press the button to activate, they take a long time to load up before they are ready to use. Using them is also a drag. I've tried the YouTube widget and there is too much of a lag to make the experience anything but pleasant. So basically what I have to say is don't buy this TV just for the widgets, but for the picture quality.

Great HiDef TV..... Easy set up, lots of features but two complaints.......One I can't register this product with Samsung. I entered the serial number several times and the Samsung site keeps rejecting it and yes I am checking and doing it all correctly. Next complaint is that Amazon is not currently registering this Samsung for its Video On Demand. It will soon (They Say) and that is a good and wanted feature...... I love the 2 USB ports as they are very useful and Samsung has a computer connector and I have connected my Gateway and use it as my monitor. Easy to switch and easy to learn, scan, do things with.... A great and easy remote. In all this is what I thought it would be and more....... Lightweight too and the picture something else.....
Now if I could register the dam thing with Samsung and Amazon would get that Video On Demand capability it would be perfect.......

Everything went well. Delivery was on schedule with the TV mounted on its base. I had no difficulty making the connections and am very pleased with the picture, especially for the HD channels.
