 "Awesome!" 2009-12-20
By Sam Santerre (Big Rapids, MI USA)
This TV is GREAT! This is my 3rd LCD TV but my only LED backlit TV, it makes a huge difference! The blacks are awesome, viewing angle is awesome, picture is awesome, styling is awesome! Only complaint is the speakers aren't the best, but I have a large home theatre system with high end JBL speakers so the TV speakers are a non issue anyway, besides, who doesn't have a home theatre system for a TV this nice?

 "Excellent Quality" 2009-12-07
By Lee Mellott (Frederick, Maryland)
I am the type of person who likes to buy good quality and keep it for a long time. But my many years old Sony was turning everyone and everything blue. Definitely a great TV for a Smurf or Blueman fanatic but not the best for general viewing. So out to look for a new TV.

I am not an electronics buff so exact specs etc. is not something I really wanted to study. Instead I opted to look for the TV that had the best visual picture.

And the Samsung TV has an outstanding picture. The color is vivid and rich and the depth perception is amazing. At some points you feel the characters are in the room with you. In addition the TV looks great from a straight on or side view. The quality of the anti blur makes watching fast paced sports very enjoyable.

Many of the TV's we looked at boasted a high quality picture, but we saw a huge difference when we stepped back from the screen. The color on this one just stood out.

In addition the TV offers a sleek design. It has a lustrous black finish that sets off the wide screen beautifully. The screen has just the right amount of reflectivity so you can easily view the picture without glare. At 40 inches this flat screen is large enough to give a movie type feel but not so large as to overwhelm an average size family room. Another big plus is the TV is more eco friendly then others.

After viewing the TV's in the store I was lucky to find it on Amazon where it was for a window of time around $1200 with free shipping and no tax. $300 less than if I had purchased it in the store. Since I know I will have this for many years it is an excellent value.

Set up was easy, it looks great in the room and we are really enjoying our new Samsung.

 "Best picture to date" 2009-12-02
By Neil Mcpherson (Connecticut, USA)
Pros:

You should make sure you can afford this TV before you go see side comparison between it and other LCD TV's in an a store. Because you'll either be walking away with the Samsung LED, or walking away with a product you are certain looks inferior.

I do not see the image degradation viewing it from an angle like others have.

Cons:

Yes, the sound is poor like the other reviews said. The speaker will even reverberate (if that is a word) while the volume if even turned down low. Mounting the TV on a wall does produce better sound than when it is free standing.

It's been said before, but I'll say it again. It is absolutely ANNOYING having to hit the "exit" button after selecting an input source. I have never seen this on a TV before. This prevents me from using replacing the Samsung remote completely. You can use a universal remote to change input source, but then you have to go back to the Samsung remote to hit "Exit" to get the selection display off the screen. If anyone knows a workaround, please let me know.

By J. Myers
Bought my first LCD from Amazon and everything went perfect.Great price $1250.00,free shipping and no sales tax. The T.V. arrived ahead of the scheduled delivery date. The delivery guy was on time, and he opened the box to make sure it would power up. I had it set up on the stand and running within minutes.I was hoping for a little better picture with S.D. TV. I have Dish Network and thought the digital would be acceptable.Needless to say I ordered H.D. the next day, WOW!!

I love it,what a picture.I see no loss of picture quality when viewing from the side. Maybe a little lighter is all.

"Absolutely no problems. Great TV!" 2009-11-16
By M. Davis (savannah, ga)
I did a lot of research on all the reviews before purchansing this tv. I have had no problems at all that some others had mentioned. Picture is incredible. The glare from various windows in the room is very minimal (you have to actually look for them to even notice it). Sound is actually much better than I had expected from some of the other reviews. At the time I ordered this tv, I went to other local stores to see if they could beat amazon's price. They actually told me I should order the tv from amazon at that price. They couldn't come close. I had found a steal! Zero complaints with this LED.

 "Fantastic Television" 2009-12-09
By Gregory A. McDonald (Chicago, IL United States)
This television is outstanding. In my opinion it blows away it's contemporaries from Sony, LG, Toshiba. I find it to be as clear or clearer than the Samsung LED television. The end user options and adjustments make this TV easy to configure to the users desires. Deep blacks, vibrant colors. Depending on the source and the content, you may find some of the anti-blur features (240hz) need to be adjusted. On certain sources and or content, the feature can make it too sharp. I know that sounds strange, but it looks more like video than film. But it is easy to adjust by the sets own presets OR it allows you to adjust it to your liking with a custom setting that allows you to adjust the anti-blur and the anti-judder feature.

Looks outstanding with HD cable TV, BluRay, PS3 and Xbox 360. I did 3 months of research and this was the TV that stopped me dead in my tracks. No buyers remorse. If this TV is only your list, then make sure you go somewhere to see it.

"Great TV- AMAZON ROCKS!!!! SD DVDs look very Good it" 2009-11-29
By M. Kerezman (macomb, ok United States)
No, I'm not AMAZON employee but let me tell I got the TV during fluctuating Price drop but what really rocked my boat was shipping. From time I clicked Purchase, AMAZOn had it shipped in under TWO HOURS! That's right less than two hours and that's with the FREE SUPER SAVER shipping. AMAZON rocks!

NOW to the TV:

I'll leave to other people to give the ins and outs. Performs flawlessly. One thing I one note to reviews that I felt was missing when I was deciding to buy one that was a big concern was how STANDARD DVDs would look on it. Although I got Blue Ray player at the same time and my BR movies have grown exponentially in the month or so I have the TV, This is the TV to get if you plan on watching SD DVDs. My SAMSUNG TV is 40" and I typically watch at 8 or 9 feet. While I have the JVC upscaler Blue Ray Player XVBP1, it doesn't matter what I set it on as this TV makes it look great. Not BR quality, but very good. Even old TVs shows on DVD this TV makes look great to my eyes. If you have a lot STANDARD DVDs like Airwolf, Star Trek, Magnum PI this TV is one really consider. One very satisfied customer here both for Sam sung TV and to AMAZON.

"Best TV I ever had" 2009-11-24
By Al Villaverde (Scottsdale AZ)
I shopped and compared for weeks before buying this Samsung TV from Amazon. When Amazon discounted the price and threw in free delivery, I pulled the trigger on my order. I've no regrets whatsoever. I'd previously owned three Sony TVs and was unsure about switching my brand allegiance. The TV looks sleek, purring in the corner waiting for action. The HD is amazing, especially watching NFL and college football. I've got a Sony Bluray DVD player connected and the picture depth and clarity is eerily crisp and bright. My only regret is that I didn't spend a few more bucks for an LED model, but that's next on my list.

Great picture. Very easy to use. I'm still building my entertainment system, but this TV has plenty of room for expansion. All the core features seem to be performing at the top of the line quality.

Internet widgets on the TV are a promising feature, but most of them aren't very well designed and are frustratingly slow to use via remote control. Also, the Amazon Video on Demand widget has been "temporarily unavailable" for weeks with no explanation online.

Chose this mount through the reviews. I understood the drawbacks stated in the reviews, heavy, requiring 2 people to hang, 16-on-center beams, etc. All of these are quite minor compared to the great quality and value of this product. I had this mounted (my wife helped me hold up to get the first bolt in) in about 25 minutes. Love the versatile movement on this mount with my 42" TV. I would definitely both this for a second TV.

By John B. Mckibbon (USA)
I bought this wall mount because it was the cheapest and most solid looking mount I could find. I used it to mount my 42inch Samsung Plasma. It takes two people and some tools to get this thing setup but once the work is done you will be satisfied. It looks great, feels solid, and it allows you to move your tv up, down, left, right, forwards, and backwards. I wish it could tilt up and down a few extra degrees but otherwise its a great mount. Bottom line, best mount you can find for the price for flat tv's 40inch and up.

 "Great mount, no complaints" 2009-08-31
By drose
As others have said, this thing is most definitely heavy. It's possible to take the mount apart so that you can only deal with the wall plate but since I had my roommate help me, I didn't bother with that.

Mounting this was a nightmare but only because my stud finder is crap. I borrowed two other stud finders and they all gave me different readings- it really got frustrating. Also, my apartment doesn't have the standard 16 inch or 24 inch gap between studs. The two studs I eventually found were 14 inches center to center. Luckily the wall mount has multiple slots for the bolts. Once I had the holes drilled, the rest was a breeze.

Others have complained about the instructions but I didn't see a big issue there- the diagrams show pretty much everything you need to do.

I used 2 levels and found that TV-side plate was off by a good 10-15 degrees. Luckily, the designers put 5 hex screws that allow you to adjust the tilt.

Unfortunately due the stud issues I was not able to mount this in the center of my wall. But I was able to move the arms to right and hang the TV right of center on the mount- those combined centered it. Now, I'm hanging a 46 inch LCD HDTV on it and have noticed no sagging.

The mount is very stiff, hard to move. But I see this as a plus since it makes it seem more sturdy.

By S. Lemke (Milwaukee, WI)
I am very pleased with this product. I ordered two to hang matching Phillips 47' LCD's next to each other in our living room. They arrived in 5-7 days and were in perfect condition, nothing damaged or missing. They each weight about 30-35 lbs and have been holding up my 45 lbs TV's with no problems for a couple weeks now.

I got the articulated mounts so we would have the options they give. Only one of them is pulled a couple inches out and angled. I haven't noticed any sagging or other problems. We haven't been pulling it far from the wall, so I haven't tested them in that fashion.

They were pretty simple to put up. All you need is a drill, drill bits and a ratchting wrench set or an old style wrench set it you like working harder and screw drivers. If you have the right size attachment for you drill, you could fly through it. I put the mounts up myself, but had my wife help me put the TV's on the mount just to be safe. Also, it has a level on the item, but I still used my own. I don't trust those tiny levels.

The mounts were a lot cheaper than those I saw at Sam's Club ($160) and Best Buy, which were even more and went up to 400-500 each.

I was a hard choice for me between the Cheetah mount that is similar to this one, but I think I made the right one.

"Samsung Vs Sony in 26 inch" 2009-12-19
By J. Lucas
Having tested side by side this model of samsung and the entry level sony I can say without a doubt the sony is better. I was disapointed for this to be the case because honestly, I wanted and expected the samsung to be better. The colors while bright and intense overall were not better than the sony. Every single movie i played in blu ray or standard dvd needed to have adjustments made to look normal. I would say about 75% of the movies I tried looked better on the samsung but 25% looked bad and unrealistic. The sony over all beats it hands down on all material. It may not be as sharp and vibrant, but over all it looks more natural and realistic and better for upscaled movies than the samsung. I spent many hours trying to calibrate this tv and just couldnt come up with any happy medium. While the black levels were deeper, the contrast was worse, ie, if it was dark on the samsung, it looks great, but when it was dark, it was over dark, and scenes in movies like the matrix or batman returns just looked unrealistic. I tried everything to correct this with the settings but no happy medium could be found. Go with the cheaper sony, and samsung, stop setting your tvs to look good in a bright showroom and spend some time getting them to look good in a dark bedroom where they will end up. oh did i mention the sound is really bad compared to the sony, especially when using the output from the tv to drive a small left and right speaker, the sound was a few milliseconds behind that of the tv speakers and you could hear a pronounced delay which was unacceptable. this does not occur on the sonys output. Now if you compare the same models in the 32 inch versions, the samsung is a much better tv

"Nice picture, poor sound and poor channel management" 2009-12-08
By Mr Wren (Holliston, MA)
I bought this for the bedroom and wanted to keep it simple. Like most other reviewers - nice picture if you are not too far off vertical or horizontal. Internal speaker sound is poor. I tried using the headphone out jack into Boston Acoustic computer speakers and even with that setup it was difficult to get decent sound. Oddly, when you use the headphone out jack the tv senses it and then will not let you use the equalizer adjustment (it is grayed out). I think you can set the eq on the internal speakers and then plug into the headphone jack. I am trying to use a single remote and still have all of the tv functions including volume control. The L-R Audio Out and the optical out are fixed levels so you would have to use another remote to adjust volume.

The biggest downside for me is the inability to assign channel names or call letters. I use the C*cast cable system (without their box) so when Samsung autoprogram is performed all the stations are picked up as 4-1, 5-2, 89-3, etc. A few have call letters assigned but most do not. So it is unknown where CNN, TNT, etc are located until you manually select each channel, verify what you are seeing (CNN, TNT, etc) and then write them down. Samsung states in the User Manual "The names of digital broadcasting channels are automatically assigned and cannot be labeled." I don't know why they say this because it is just not true. Competing products do allow you to key in the names. My problem was that I could not find a 26" tv that I could key in the names and had a headphone out jack. The tv just needs to be thought out a little more.

Amazon shipping was outstanding.

HOOKED IT UP , TWEAKED IT AND HAD IT RUNNING IN LESS THAN 20 MINUTES. FIRST THING I DID WAS TURNED ON MY SLIM PS3 , INSERT THE MOVIE "UP" FROM DISNEY BLUERAY AND AS SOON AS THE MOVIE STARTED I ALMOST CRIED! IT WAS IF I WAS LOOKING @ A FULL 1080P ON A PLASMA. THE PICTURE WAS CLEAR AND THE SOUND WAS AMAZING!! I HAVE IT HOOKED UP TO MY LOGITECH Z5500 VIA OPTICAL. DISH NETWORK HD LOOKS GOOD ALSO AND CAN'T WAIT TO SEE MY FIRST SAN JOSE SHARKS GAME ON IT!! ONLY DOWNSIDE IS THAT I GOT THE BLACK BASE AND NOT THE SEE THRU ONE AS PICTURED ON BESTBUYS WEBSITE. BUT OTHER THAN THAT I WILL BE WATCHING ALOT OF BLUERAYS ON THIS BABY!! IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A 26IN. After 18 months my older version of this television LN26A450C refused to power on. The red standby panel light glowed but turning on the television failed. This is caused by a defective 10-volt capacitor on the power board. A known and very common problem. Google 'Samsung LCD Capacitor' to find Youtube do-it-yourself videos and forum discussions on how to replace this capacitor yourself for less than $3.

"Defective Remote - Samsung customer service - worthless!" 2009-12-18
By M. H. Yursa (Philadelphia, PA USA)
I've wanted this TV for a long time. The price Amazon is selling it for is too low to resist so I ordered it and it arrived well before it was promised so again Amazon is great. However the remote is defective. I called Samsung customer service and they guided me through resetting it but is still didn't work. So they gave me 2 choices - wait 7-14 days for a replacement or send the TV back. Can you believe they would want me to send the TV back rather than send the remote more quickly?

So I am unable to rate the TV, others think it's great, and I've seen them in other locations where they do have great pictures but what good it that if a defective remote keeps me from even being able to set-up the TV. What will happen if there is a really serious problem? So I guess back it goes and I'll be back on Amazon looking for a good TV from a company that stands behind their products.

After much research and shopping, I decided to go with this television. I am quite impressed with my decision. The television is GORGEOUS. I think the piano black color looks very classy and I personally prefer that over the other Samsung tvs which have that red touch of color. This tv has outstanding picture quality. Even the SD broadcasts do not look that bad on this tv. Sound quality is decent but I hear to get the best audio, set up a surround sound speaker system. For now I am happy with the speakers on the set itself. I have only had this tv for a few weeks now and I am very happy with my purchase. Samsung is the best in LCD tvs (in my opinion) these days. I recommend this tv!

Samsung really does make great TV's. I also love playing xbox 360 on it. The functionality is smooth and quick as well such as moving from watching tv to viewing what's on my computer to gong to one of the HDMI ports. The speakers sound decent as well, however, it's best to get a surround sound system for any new TV. The price was decent too. I wish that it had an HDMI port on the side but that is only a minor issue. Over all, great TV.

 "WOW WOW WOW!" 2009-12-04
By Stephen A. Bjork (Carlsbad, CA)
Incredible! I read so much about LCD and visited many retailers that had this product and the competing products. So in the showroom I got to see the pictures side by side. It was very apparent immediately that the Samsung picture was far superior to all of the other LCD TVs in its class. I thought perhaps it had something to do with the signal or the settings of the television so I was a little skeptical. To my delight, the TV was everything that I hoped for. First of all the picture is outstanding. The blacks are dark black the whites are pure white and all of the colors same as vivid as reality. Since it has a built in QAM tuner, I was able to plug it in to my coaxial cable from my wall and tune 100 stations including the high definition channels. Setup was easy by choosing the automatic option and it found all of the stations at once. Even the standard definition stations looked far superior than they did on my old set. Since this TV was specifically for my bedroom where I had no cable box I promptly ordered a set top box to receive high definition broadcasts . It is truly amazing, of the picture is much better than my 46 inch living room LCD by a different manufacturer. Noticeably superior. The only negative I can say about this TV is that the speakers are very mediocre, but in so much that this is a 1080p flat panel it is presumed that you will hook it up to an exterior sound device. So you should. The picture quality is stunning from corner to corner; if you will be amazed. I am so pleased with this purchase. As you can see in the other reviews the TV has all the hookups that you can imagine. Three HDMI, component, and coaxial. It has an exterior digital output options, but lacks USB and film card inputs. No big deal. I have connected this TV to my PC of via and HDMI cable and can watch bluRay movies that play on my PC. I cannot imagine a single thing that I would add to this TV if I designed it myself.

Great remote layout. Good menu and easy setup, takes about 20 minutes for the auto channel setup, which seems about average. Would not hesitate to buy another Samsung. TV was delivered on time and excellently packaged.

 "What an upgrade!" 2009-11-27

This Samsung replaced my 8 year old 26" Sony. I do not have a HD signal yet, but I can't imagine receiving a better picture. The old Sony weighed at least 100 pounds and I had to get my wife to help me get it out of the cabinet. This Samsung is light as a feather compared to the Sony behemoth. I have been waiting years for the LCDs to come down to my price range and I'm glad I waited. A excellent product!

 "Worth the research." 2009-11-16
By Clayton Martin (Hot Springs, AR USA)
Before buying a television with all the things I required, I read numerous reviews from several websites and dealers. It was definitely worth that research. This television has been everything I expected. Quality is definitely worth the extra price. My advice is to not let price keep you from getting a high quality television.

"Everything I could have hoped for." 2009-11-13
By Rob P. (Wisconsin)
I am the most indecisive person in the world, and within the past 6 months of browsing HDTVs and not being able to make a decision, I finally decided to jump in and buy this TV set. I've only had it for one day, but I'll continue to update this review as time goes on to make sure people get an idea of the long term aspects of this television.

First off, this TV is perfect for homes with small to medium living spaces. I have a living room that is roughly 15 by 15 feet, and this accompanies the room perfectly. Even after I set it up, I thought to myself that 42 inches would have been a bit too overpowering. Anyways, this TV puts my old 26 inch Westinghouse to shame. Although...I think almost any TV blows away Westinghouse television sets.

Anyways, right off the bat this TV is beautiful. It lacks the 120Hz processing, but in my own personal opinion, the only time 120Hz is beneficial is if you are watching sports or documentaries (Speaking of Documentaries, Planet Earth looks absolutely incredible on this TV regardless of the 120hz). All of the games I played today off of my PS3 looked much more polished and finely detailed, and Bluray (Planet Earth) was equally as incredible. I'll likely be giving some action movies a go on this TV tomorrow night, and I'll make sure to update how the TV handles fast moving scenes. However, I have a feeling that it will be great.

Before I close this, there was a review that I read which said that the television had poor viewing angles and back lighting. I just want to claim that when the sun went down, the backlighting on the TV is not nearly how the reviewer made it out to be, and the poor viewing angles are hardly poor. Do they exist? Yes, but barely. I felt like when the image became obscured due to the viewing angle, it doesn't even matter because the angle you are viewing the screen at is so awkward.

Bottom line, I am more than pleased with my purchase, and as stated before, this makes for a great small/medium sized living room TV. Unless you get a defect, you won't regret this product.

 "Very Happpy" 2009-10-14
By Brad (Alexandria, Va.)
I bought this item to be used as a monitor for my MAC G5 Pro Computer. The physical size was determined by the amount of space I had on my desk, otherwise I would have gotten a larger one. The Samsung LN37B550 works great as a computer monitor and displays in 1920 x 1080 resolution, I can put it in sleep mode according to settings on the Apple, the picture is sharp and clear and easy on the eyes with my head just a little more than a foot away from the screen. I also have an Elgato TV card on the computer and I can watch TV in several different screen sizes which I select on the apple. Di-Def channels are displayed as such and cable analog displays as it should. No complaints. Great product for the price.

"sound control does not work" 2009-09-12
By S. Kehoe
Picture quality is perfect and much better then my $3200. Sony (2006). The Sound control is broken and will not glide up or down in volume. Control must be pushed repeatedly for proper sound placement. Not enough quality control.
