"Good TV - Great Picture, Decent Sound" 2010-01-30
By Big
The picture is everything you would expect from a Samsung: crystal clear and beautiful. HDTV, Blu Ray, and PS3 games look brilliant, and the screen seems larger than 22 inches. That being said, the speakers could have used some more power behind them. They are a bit soft.

"pleased" 2009-06-21
By Frank Meddleson Jr. (philadelphia pa)
This is my first purchase of a LCD tv. I think that the plasma screen gives a better picture because there is no distortion from any viewing area, but the LCD is a good picture if viewed straight on. If you sit too close though, it gets a little grainy.

I was interested in this item once I saw that it was backed by Amazon.com. I did extensive research on this item, both in the retail stores and on the web (ebay). The price was a factor and I put great faith in the description provided by the seller. Once my decision was made to go thru Amazon, everything went smooth for a good transaction. Thanks Amazon.com !!

"Samsung Again" 2010-02-17
By Mr. Superb
This was my second Samsung HD flat screen LCD television. I was influenced by the overall performance of my first bigger screen HD television by Samsung. No disappointment from any of my Samsung TVs (now at 3) from the first day of easy set-up for each. Good price, free shipping, and timely delivery from Amazon. Superb picture, sound, and other features are typical of each TV.

"Way Better At It's Size Than It Should Be" 2009-12-22
By Matthew Smith (Arlington, TX USA)
I bought this TV when it first came out last year for around 600. I paid too much but I have been very satisfied with it so far. Now that I have had a year to play with it here are my findings.
1. A lot of companies dont care about putting out a good 26" LCD, but this one was a great example of a solid small screen. Excellent picture and picture calibration tools. It also has a great set of inputs for such a small screen size. Try finding a good tv at this size that has 3 HDMI and 2 Component inputs. It also has an S video/composite.
2. It works well as a pc monitor. I have used it as a pc monitor for two extended periods of time and I love it. I have an old pc with a decent video card and i have to problem viewing hd content off the net or regular content.
3. The speakers on the system are pretty weak, but not as bad as some reviews claim. I find that even at its lowest level it is still pretty loud. If you expect great sound out of a set this small, your just asking too much.
4. I hate the glossy finish. I hate cleaning this thing. LCDS suck up dust, but this thing is too much. I know everyone loves the glossy sleak look, but id go for a dull suface on the rest of the tv.
5. 720P is not crap. This tv does very well when connected to hd cable and sat.
Comparing it directly too a 40" 1080P lcd the image difference is quite noticable, but when compared to other 720s at any size, it out shines them, I like it much better than even this years Samsung 26".
6. Price i paid was too much and if your going to buy it off the net or on clearance just dont pay more than 300.
I plan on getting a new tv next year, but this is definetly staying around. Its perfect as a bedroom or secondary tv, and it will be the best looking small tv you will see.

"sweet little tv" 2009-10-13
By green in NJ
Like many, I chose a 26" because it fits in my entertainment system and my budget (the 32" did not). It might have made more sense to wait for prices to come down more (they did) and get rid of the old furniture. I'm borrowing my son's 32" Samsung and there is a big jump in features, etc, when you go to the 32" set - including the level of support Samsung provides. Very interesting! Still, much nicer than the analog set it replaced. HD is lovely.

"Very good but breaks fast !!" 2009-09-02
By Nihilo (Worcester, MA USA)
I bought the TV in November 2008 and I used it moderately ...probably less than 200 hours of viewing, mainly DVDs and cable TV ...the TV stopped working after 8 months. The TV would not power on, even thought the power light was on and flickering every three seconds (which it does not under normal circumstances) ...the TV got back to normal the next day, but I still shipped it to Samsung for repair ...we'll see if they find anything wrong with it ...another review had the same problem ...looks like it is fairly common ... luckily, it is still under warranty. It's been in the repair shop for one day, hopefully the turn around time will be fast. However, I don't know if I will buy Samsung again ...you pay a lot of money to have your TV be useless in less than a year !!! Call me old, but my Sears TV bought in 1984 still works great, although it is not really HD ...

"It's OK... not great" 2010-02-02

It's not a bad TV. The sound isn't the best but I guess that's what you get for the price you pay.

"Okay for the price..." 2010-02-01
By DJ (Tehachapi, CA)
This TV (a Vizio 22" va220e LCD) is okay for the price I paid ($200)... The color is a bit above average, but the sound is horrible! I've heard some mini PC speakers that sound better. I use this TV in the bedroom, and it suffices. So, if you're looking for an LCD TV of this size, I'd recommend you find one with better sound quality.

"Perhaps too good to be true." 2010-01-30
By Helen (Atlanta, GA United States)
At least I can receive stations without cable or satellite charges every month, but the sound is annoying (very flat) and the operation is very frustrating. The onscreen menu is so small I must stand right in front of it to see it, and each setting has it's own peculiarities. Sometimes I can change the wide screen to normal, sometimes I can't. I would like to get additional speakers, but I can't find anything with appropriate connections in an acceptable price range. I rarely receive constant, even reception.

"After a year and two months, menu lettering is scrambled and unreadable" 2010-02-09
By Wesley Roberts (Pittsburgh)
I bought my TV about a year and two months ago, just before Christmas 2008. Since then it's been a good TV - picture quality is good, sound quality is good (it's my first HDTV, so I don't have anything to compare it to; everything about it seemed amazing compared to the 19" tube TV I'd been using). However, yesterday when I turned it on I found that all of the on-screen menu displays (channel number and description, volume number, all TV setting options under the menu option, etc.) had turned into scrambled gibberish. What this means is that you can't read the number of the channel you're on, can't read the information about the channel, can't read the menu to change settings on the TV, etc. While the TV continues to work, it's a frustrating experience to not be able to use every function, especially since I've only had it for a year and two months. Sure, it's possible to open up the manual and guide my way through the menus that way, and I don't have cable so it's not hard to find the channels I need, but it'd be better if the TV just worked the way it's supposed to. I called Samsung about it and they confirmed that it's out of warranty so I'll have to pay for repair, and so now it's a matter of deciding whether or not I want to drop money on fixing this thing. Most likely I'll just save my money, keep using it in its current condition, and buy another brand when this one dies completely (which may not be too far in the future if what I'm reading about these TV's power systems is true). *Insert concluding rant about planned obsolescence here*

"Great TV" 2010-02-06
By R. Nicholls
This was our first flat screen. It was a little small but it fits perfect where we currently have it in our house. If you don't pay for HD you really can't fully appreciate the television. Great picture.

"It's Awesome!" 2010-02-01
By G. McNeill (Orange County, CA)
My son uses this TV to play video games with his xBox 360. The picture clarity is astounding! There is no discernible blur with motion. He uses an HDMI cable to attach the xBox to the TV. A coaxial cable is used to get cable TV. Even without a cable box or HDMI cable for TV shows, the picture is great. We got this for $400, including free shipping and no tax. Price couldn't be beat. This a 720 dpi model, but at 32" we couldn't tell the difference in picture quality between it and our 46" inch Samsung, 1080p 240 Hz TV. Review sites say that 720 is fine for a set this size and we agree. Highly recommend it!

"faulty power supply within the first year..." 2010-01-19
By Nicole
We purchased our tv on 1/24/2009 and on 1/10/2010 the power supply failed. Talking to the repair man he stated that most flat screens fail within the first 1 to 3 years to get you to keep purchasing new tvs, not like the old days where you purchase one and it lasts for 10 years. Atho he did stated that Samsung is the cheapest flat screen to repair if something does go wrong... TV is nice but Repair man recommend getting the extended warranty. Ours was still under warranty thru Samsungs first year policy by 14 days. Repair man stated if it would have broke in 15 days it would have costed us about $400.00 to repair it, vs. Sony same problem would have costed us about $700.00. I gave this a 1 star because I feel that tvs should not be breaking within the first 5 years.

"Very good picture, terrible remote." 2010-01-09
By James L. Spice (green bay)
I reviewed all the 32" HDTV on the market (CNET, Amazon, etc.)and this was one of two that ranked above average. It is not as good as my 52" 1080P Samsung. However, it is a very sharp picture with very good color. The remote is horrible. It's shaped like a canoe and you never know what side you are pointing. Its easy to drop too. The sound is typical of built in speakers. If you want high quality audio, run it through a receiver/amplifier to outside speakers. The antenna connector is in the back of the set. For wall mounting, a connector on the side near the other connectors would have been useful. It is at least 4"+ wide and it is likely these sets will get narrower in future generations.

"Nice low cost HD but refresh is poor" 2010-02-01
By Mav212 (San Francisco, CA)
I bought this HD TV to replace a 27 classic color TV for space and to "move up". It did alleviate quite a bit of Space from the JVC 27" tube TV I had. However, the picture wasn't that great. I used it for a standard DVD and you can clearly see the pixels trailing vs the JVC which did not show this issue. I am guessing this has to do with the slow 60Hz refresh rate? I have a samsung high end (120Hz) and have never seen this type of issue on action flicks. I have yet to test it on over the air HD and will do so soon. I will let you know.

"Great little tv" 2010-01-02
By L. Williams (Atlanta, GA United States)
I have had this TV for a little over a month, and really I like it, especially since I got it on sale. It was easy to set up (took maybe 15-20 minutes). Picture quality has been pretty good so far, especially through my blu ray(sony n460). I have Direct TV, but I don't pay for HD right now, but plan to get it soon. My picture is actually pretty good now, except on my sports channels, and thats where the difference comes in. After doing much research, I came to the conclusion that for a 32 inch 1080p and 120 hz wasn't all that necessary, but when it comes to sports it does make a difference. Fortunately Direct TV is adding more sports stations to the HD package, so that should resolve that issue. That being said, depending on your required use, this a great little tv, especially since it comes a great price point. For use with a video game console and to watch movies (either on regular tv or via blu ray or streaming video), it's great. The TV has a lot of great features and adjustments to make it suite your specifications. Overall, it's more than worth it's price, and that its supposed to ECO friendly.

"Vizio Review - Buyer Beware!" 2009-12-31
By Happy Kat (San Jose, CA)
BUYER BEWARE!!! I purchased this from Adorama Camera through Amazon and the TV was dead right out of the box!!! So disappointed as it was a gift! Adorama does NOT exchange/replace TV's so stuck dealing with Vizio directly. (Amazon doesn't help out either, you are on your own). Vizio customer service is poor, slow and I still have no working tv. So much for how great this tv is, I wouldn't know since it was shipped dead - guessing a dead power supply. Anyway still waiting for parts & a repair person to come out. For the same cost I should have bought the tv at Walmart - at least I would have been able to return and get another working tv ASAP!

"Old coaxial cable from my old rooftop antenna gives me free high def TV (local channels)" 2009-12-30
By Marc Trevino
I have an 20+ year old rooftop antenna which I never used once I got satellite TV. Using an old coaxial cable (the same ones we use for cable TV), I hooked up this TV to my old rooftop antenna. This TV has a coaxial cable input for this purpose.
After attaching coaxial cable and running a channel search function on TV, I got several crisp, clear, free local HD channels (including all the major networks). A decoder box was NOT necesssary (I'm assuming TV has a built in HD tuner). No special "high tech" antenna was necessary. No special "high tech" cables were necessary. I live approx 40 miles south of Chicago and I am able to get all the major networks (sometimes can't get signal for Channel 2 CBS, which is historically a problem in my area).
This TV replaced a 27 inch RCA which I had for several years. The TV does a nice job with my standard definition satellite signal (my satellite is a digital signal, but NOT a high definition signal). I attached my satellite decoder box to TV using the s-video input on back of TV. I also attached my old DVD player using component video inputs on back of TV. I'm amazed how my standard definition satellite and an old DVD player look so much better on this TV (both in color and clarity).
The picture on this TV does get slightly "stretched" when watching satellite TV (picture stretches to fill all 4 corners). This "stretching" can be altered with different types of settings to fit your taste. Or, you can undue the "stretching" all together and watch it with a square picture. Whatever you like....it's not a problem with this TV.
Considering the price, the picture is very nice. I use in "retail mode" like others suggested (less energy efficient). Also use "vivid" picture mode, which I think gives the nicest picture and best color.
Sound quality is good considering small speakers (sound is comparable to my old 27" RCA). Sound is just fine for a large bedroom.

"AVERAGE WITH A FEW SHORT-COMINGS" 2010-01-15
By The Toyman (Central Illinois)
GENERAL INFORMATION
This set is being used in a kitchen, replacing a 5-yr-old 17" Phillips LCD (not digital/HD ).
Reason for replacement is I wanted more viewing (screen) area.
Viewing distance typically ranges from 8 feet (during meals) to 15 feet (meal preparation & clean-up).
Typically used to watch national news/stock market ticker.
Connection: Comcast cable - no cable box nor cable card.
The following descriptions of picture quality were made using analog channels.
PROS
- Screen displays a picture within 8 seconds of powering on, compared to 15 seconds on the replaced 17" Phillips LCD.
- The 'blank' time between (changing) channels is about three seconds less than the Phillips, but comparable to two other 32" Sony digital/HD TVs.
- Initial setup was reasonably intuitive. I scanned the Quick Set Up Guide before starting.
CONS
- During set up, before initiating the 'Find channels' step, I was directed to select the cable signal type used by the cable provider (Comcast), and given a choice of STANDARD, IRC & HRC; there was no explanation/definition provided in the Quick Setup Guide. I didn't know what the instruction meant, so tried each one (resetting the channels selected between each choice). IRC & HRC resulted in no digital/high def. channels being found, which left me with a reasonable guess of what to choose. However, to verify my choice, I looked on-line and found directions to use IRC [...]. But since that still didn't find digital/HD channels, I called Comcast and was told to use STANDARD, which added perhaps 50 hypenated channels (e.g. 132-1), including a few labeled HD on the viewed channel. Lacking a cable box, scrambled channels didn't display.
- The picture on the old 480 resolution Phillips was slightly superior to this 720 Samsung. I've tweaked the picture settings (brightness, contrast, sharpness, color & tint), but still haven't been able to match more natural skin tones that were displayed on the old Phillips and three other, larger Sony digital/HD TVs. Additionally, lack of picture sharpness is particularly annoying; objects often appear grainy and people's faces appear to have an excess of makeup to the point of blurring definiton of detail. That also applies to other scenes. The previously-mentioned Sonys (also viewing analog channels) have a similar problem, but not quite to the extent of this Samsung. I discussed it with a TV-repairman friend, who said it had something to do with the lack of processing power of the TV. I had wanted to buy a 22" Sony (Model KDL-22L5000), but waited too long (discontinued by Sony), and the location of the TV (between shelves) restricts using a larger size. In fairness, a Sony in this size-range may have similar problems - I've not viewed one. And of course if I wanted to pay Comast an additional [...]/month for another converter box, the problem might be moot, because I'd use the digital/HD channels. But that's not worth it to me for a set that gets about 60 minutes of use most days. Comcast already gets more of my money than I would like.
-Sound quality (out-of-the -box) was lousy, but tweaked to acceptable, by using TruSurround Sound and increasing the three lowest equalizer frequencies (bass side) significantly. Volume levels are lacking. The old Phillips was usually set at one-third of max-available volume. Depending on which channel is being used, this Samsung is often set closer to 45 percent of available volume. Maxing the volume is uncomfortable, but not overwhelming (No, I'm not deaf). Additionally with Auto Volume on, there is much less consistency of volume from channel to channel - some channels are harshly loud while others are far too soft. Disabling Auto Volume helps maintain levels from channel-to-channel, but the sound level (volume) drops a bit.
- The set is described on Samsung's web site as having "Touch of Color(tm) (which) adds a sophisticated touch to the bezel". The Samsung site shows it as a different color/shade on about 1/3 of the frame. The set I received is solid, glossy black. This point isn't an issue for me, but it's not what's described.
- When channels are stored as 'Favorites', they cannot be recalled from a list of Favorite channels. Push the button - a Favorite channel displays. Push it again for another Favorite channel, etc - in numeric order. If there's a way to display a list of ONLY the Favorites and then select one to watch, I haven't found it. Again, annoying.
SUMMARY
The set meets my criteria for a larger viewing area in the space available, but the (analog channels) picture quality is mediocre. I viewed the model at Best Buy before buying - it looked good, but was connected via digital/high def. Unless I add a converter box, I'll not be completely satisfied with it. Full disclosure: excepting the 17" Phillips, and this Samsung, the other three digital/high def. TV sets I own run through a cable box (1) or cable card (2).

"Second one is excellent" 2009-12-10
By donok (Ft Worth, TX)
The first one was shipped very fast. Upon receipt, the color could not be properly adjusted. Poor contrast and just not a sharp or color correct picture. I requested a replacement and received it in 2 days. This one has a perfect picture and the sound is not bad for a small TV. I would recommend this one. We are very pleased.

"Very Satisfied Customer" 2009-12-10
By W. Moody
I received my new Samsung tv in less than week after ordering from Amazon and receiving the free shipping. The tv is slim and looks beautiful on the outside. I was able to pick up a few HD channels with a small indoor antenna. The picture is amazing. CBS in HD looks absolutely outstanding. I wish I had ordered this tv sooner so I could have watched the entire college football season on it. This tv is perfect for my bedroom and the volume is not an issue in a small room. Everything seems sturdy and the tv came with everything needed to setup and start watching within 10 minutes. A great buy.

"Bedroom TV" 2009-11-21
By R. Rule (Eatonton, GA)
TV arrived within several days of ordering same. Packaging was excellent and the TV arrived in perfect condition. Instructions for set up and viewing gave me some difficulty but that might be an age problem on my part. Excellent picture viewed from the bed since the LCD is pointed that way. Angle viewing beyond about 35 degrees from straight on causes considerable fading but not a problem for watching from the bed. All in all I am very pleased with this purchase. Wal Mart and other stores were selling old models of the 22" Samsung for prices in the $300-$350 range.

"A Superb TV for a small room" 2009-11-17
By D Kaps (Boston, MA)
The TV is perfect for a small room (bedroom, dorm, kitchen, etc) and should not be compared to much larger units. The picture is brilliant in HD with vivid colors. Setup was easy. And the sound is ok, not great. But remember, small TV's have small speakers. In this model, two 3watt speakers. With some adjustment, the sound was passable. Decent volumn but no base. Most of the reviews on this model, as well as other small TV's rate sound as mediocre. Not the case. Once you see the fantastic picture, you expect a rich base sound experience to accompany a movie. Get real. You can always add bookshelf speakers. I am very happy with the purchase.
